Welcome to the Table!

Father Bill’s & MainSpring (FBMS) has collaborated with St. Paul’s Community to pursue the future
of  The Table, a community lunch program operating since 1985, from the basement of St. Paul’s Church, 80 Pleasant Street, Brockton.

FBMS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency dedicated to preventing and ending homelessness in Southeastern Massachusetts.  The organization helps approximately 4,000 people annually who find themselves homeless, or at risk or homelessness, to achieve self-sufficiency.

Formerly known as “St. Paul’s Table,” the largely volunteer-led organization serves 30,000 to 40,000 meals per year, six-days a week, to those in need in the Brockton community. When St. Paul’s Church formally closed in November 2010, The Table continued to provide hot meals and lunches to the community from the church basement with financial support from FBMS.

Upon the Episcopal Diocese announcing its intention to sell the church property in the Fall of 2010, St. Paul’s Community, a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity that supported The Table financially, St. Paul’s Community Board, and FBMS commenced discussions about The Table’s future.  Ultimately, FBMS offered to host The Table at MainSpring House (MSH), 54 North Main St., less than a block away from their former location. The partnership was a natural
fit, as both entities share many people in common.

Moving forward, The Table will operate as a program under the FBMS umbrella. The Table’s identity and approach will remain the same, allowing the volunteers to continue serving nutritious lunches with dignity and respect to all who need a meal.

Over the years The Table has had a long history of success in this area and it is important to both organizations that the community lunch program continues for the benefit of the Brockton community. Though MainSpring House will be The Table’s new home, we must continue to rely on the generosity of our dedicated donors and volunteers to continue to serve meals.
